The Casino is an original Epiphone guitar design with class and style in abundance! First appearing in 1961, the instrument was initially popularised by the likes of Keith Richards, The Beatles and blues legend Howlin' Wolf. In the decades since, the Casino has remained Epiphone's best-selling archtop electric guitar, with a host of modern masters using the model's signature sound to great effect — including Noel Gallagher and The Edge. Maintaining the classic design elements that make the Casino a rock n' roll legend — namely a large hollowbody construction, an elegant trapeze tailpiece and a punchy P-90 pickup pairing — the Epiphone Casino promises a scintillating sound with superb playability to boot!
Laminated maple provides a bright and resonant tone with excellent response and sustain. The layered construction adds strength and stability, reducing susceptibility to cracking or warping. The laminated maple body maintains clear highs and punchy tone, making it ideal for musical styles that require a precise and articulate response.
The guitar features a mahogany neck for excellent strength and stability. Mahogany is known for its great resonance, contributing to a warm, rich tone with a distinctive mid-range.
Laurel is a medium hard wood with a warm brown tone and fine texture. It provides a well-balanced tone with a softer response, contributing to a comfortable playing experience. The Laurel fingerboard is an affordable alternative to more expensive woods, while offering good stability and a pleasing appearance.
The glossy finish gives any surface an elegant and luxurious look. This type of finish is achieved by applying several layers of lacquer or resin, which are then polished to a high gloss. This provides a smooth, reflective finish, enhancing color and structure of substrate. The glossy finish not only improves aesthetics, but also protects against dust, moisture and minor scratches.
The P90/P90 configuration means that the guitar is equipped with two P90 pickups. These pickups offer a powerful and punchy tone with more mid-range than traditional single-coil pickups, but with a less aggressive sound than humbuckers. This configuration is suitable for a wide range of musical styles, from rock to blues.
