Leoš Janáček's (1854-1928) works for solo piano are not numerous, but in terms of significance, they form one of the pillars of 20th century piano literature. After the piano cycle In the Mists - which can be characterized as the composers of the intimate confession of his spiritual life - and Sona 1. X. 1905, Editio Bärenreiter Praha Janáčkovo publishes probably the most popular piano work, a cycle of memoirs On the Overgrown Sidewalk. The musical text, which was revised and reflected the current state of Janáček's research, is based on a comprehensive critical edition of Leoš Janáček. The edition is also newly supplemented by the fingerings of Radoslav Kvapil and a detailed preface by Jiří Záhradka, specially written for this revised edition. The preface traces the genesis of the work as well as its sources of inspiration.
